History of DROMEAS

Who are we?
DROMEAS S.A. was founded on 1979 having as a main object the production of caravans. It is situated in the Industrial area of Serres. Since the year 1987, DROMEAS has involved in the production and sale of office furniture, chairs, partition walls, archive systems, as well as die-casted aluminum equipment for automotive.

Since 2009 the building and production facilities come up to 55.000 sq.m. on a 115.000 sq.m. land acre.


Significant events

1979: In the industrial area of Serres, ‘PAPAPANAGIOTOU SA’ was established with the object of caravans manufacturing.
1985-87: The Company performs a new investment in building facilities and engineering equipment and starts the production of desk for working places. Creation of the first exhibition in Thessaloniki.
1989-90: The Company performs a new investment in building facilities and ultramodern engineering equipment for wood processing and plastic components production. Creation of the second store in Athens. Furnishing of all Hellenic Organization of Telecommunications’ commercial stores and Administrative Services of the Organization with furniture of corporate identity with total value of €5 million.
1991-92: The Company performs a new investment in building facilities and engineering equipment for wood processing. The third store of the Company in Sofia-Bulgaria is established.
1992-93: The Company performs a new investment in building facilities and engineering equipment for the development of new chairs’ production.
1996-97: The Company performs a new investment in building facilities and engineering equipment for metal processing. A contract with the company PROVENTA in Switzerland is signed, to give DROMEAS the permission of chairs’ series production. It is the first company in its field that received the quality certificate ISO9002. Two new stores are established in Athens and Thessaloniki respectively.
1998: Company performs a new investment in building facilities and supplementary engineering equipment for metal processing. Receives the certificate of quality ISO9001.

1999: The Company performs a new investment in building facilities and engineering equipment of the latest technology laser for cutting complex metal parts and in the sector of wood for the auto paint of surfaces. Furnishing of all the country’s Tax and Customs Offices with special furniture of a €6 million value.
2000: Entrance of the Company in the Athens Stock Exchange offering the investors 2.170.000 common registered shares, i.e. the 25% of the total of 8.680.000 shares of nominal value €0,59 each. Furnishing of all Athens Metro Stations with seating for waiting areas. Agreement of multiannual validity for the furnishing of all commercial stores of the bank ‘EUROBANK’, with furniture of the corporate identity.
2001: Furnishing of all the country’s Airports with seating for waiting areas. Furnishing of all the Administrative and Medical Services of the Social Insurance Institution. Organization of the 1st International Industrial Design Competition. Furnishing of all the Administrative and Medical Departments of the Attic Hospital.
2003: Completion of the three-year investment program of a €30 million value, which is related to the construction of the aluminium die-casting and processing department, the construction and expansion of the chairs’ production department, the construction of raw materials and final products warehouse, the expansion of the production departments of wood and metal and the development of a sales network. Entrance to the juvenile furniture with the series of home furniture SURFER. Establishment of the subsidiary company KEM S.A. for moulds manufacturing with participation of DROMEAS by 90%. Purchase of a plot in the industrial area of Aspropyrgos-Attica for the construction of warehouses and purchase of an incomplete building in the Mesogeion Avenue-Athens for commercial store.
Energy-saving investments with combustion of wooden by-products for heat production. Completion of the industrial building of KEM SA in the industrial area of Serres and beginning of its productive operation. DROMEAS BG EAD is established in Sofia-Bulgaria with the object of office furniture commerce in the area.

2006: Furnishing of all the commercial stores of BANC POST in Romania with furniture of corporate identity.
2007-2009: The company DROMEAS performs new investments of a €5 million value/
2007: Collaboration with DAMLER for the supply with furniture for the company’s exhibitions needs in Europe.
2009: On Wednesday 06/05/2009 the contract between European Commission and the Company DROMEAS for the supply of office furniture of all the services of E.C. was signed, amounting to €31 million and duration 2 (two) years with possibility of extension 1+1 year.
2010: Completion of the certification procedure of DROMEAS’ production process from Mercedes (Group Daimler) as the official supplier of die-casting aluminium parts, according to the prescribed procedures of Mercedes, during the four-year collaboration in products (category A with 94/100 marks)
2010: Purchase of a new store in Sofia-Bulgaria of a €1.7 million value.
2011: Equipment of a new building with a capacity of 300 people to the complex of buildings of CERN, in Geneva-Switzerland, with disks, cabinets and bookcases.
After the completion of the investments in 2010, the company DROMEAS SA became one of the largest companies of the sector in Greece and one of the largest in Europe in terms of infrastructure, technology, facilities, productivity and product quality.
